അവർ പൂക്കൾ പറിക്കുന്നതിനിടയിൽ കിളികളുടെ ശബ്ദം കേട്ടു.. മരക്കൊമ്പിലേയ്ക്ക് അവർ നോക്കി. രണ്ടുകൊമ്പുകളിലായി കുറെ കിളികൾ ഇരിക്കുന്നത് കണ്ടു. ആ കൊമ്പുകളിൽ ഉള്ള പക്ഷികളുടെ എണ്ണം എഴുതാമോ കൂട്ടരേ..

ലതയും ശരത്തും പതുങ്ങിച്ചെന്ന് 'ടപ്പേ...ടപ്പേ...' എന്ന് കൈകൊണ്ട് അടിച്ചു. കിളികൾ പറന്ന് മരക്കൊമ്പിലിരുന്നു. പക്ഷികളുടെ വലിയ കൂട്ടമായി അത് മാറി. ഇപ്പോൾ മരത്തിൽ എത്ര പക്ഷികൾ ആണുള്ളത്?
