വീടുകളുടെ തറയിലും ഭിത്തിയിലും മണ്ണ് ഉപയോഗിച്ച് നിർമ്മിച്ചിരുന്നു. പഴയകാലത്ത് നമ്മുടെ ഉപയോഗത്തിന് ആവശ്യമായ ഒട്ടനവധി വസ്തുക്കൾ മണ്ണുകൊണ്ടാണ് നിർമ്മിച്ചിരുന്നത്. എല്ലാത്തരം മണ്ണും ഇത്തരം വസ്തുക്കൾ ഉണ്ടാക്കാൻ ഉപയോഗിക്കാറില്ല. പശിമയും ഉറപ്പുമുള്ള കളിമണ്ണാണ് പാത്രങ്ങളും മറ്റും ഉണ്ടാക്കാൻ ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്നത്. വ്യത്യസ്ത ആകൃതിയിലുള്ള വസ്തുക്കൾ കളിമണ്ണ് കൊണ്ടാണ് നിർമ്മിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത്, ആവശ്യത്തിന് വെള്ളം ചേർത്ത് കുഴച്ചെടുത്ത് വിവിധ വസ്തുക്കൾ നിർമ്മിക്കുന്നു. എന്നിട്ട് അവ തീയിൽ ചുട്ടെടുക്കുന്നു.
The floor and walls of the houses were also bilt of mud. In olden days a number of objects needed for our use were made of mud. All kinds of mud are not used for making such objects. Sticky, hard clay is used for this. Objects of different shapes are made out of clay, thoroughly mixed with sufficient water. Then they are dried and baked in fire.
