One day an old man came to Ivan’s palace.
Ivan ordered his guards to bring him inside.
The old man in shabby clothes appeared before him.
He was so tired.
‘Dear old man, what can I do for you?’ Ivan asked.
‘Oh Your Majesty! I lost my wife and all my wealth.
I find no way to make a living.
I am old and cannot work.
Let me stay here and serve you,’ said the old man.
Ivan appointed him as his servant.

ഒരുദിവസം ഒരു വയസ്സായ മനുഷ്യൻ ഐവാന്റെ കൊട്ടാരത്തിലെത്തി.

അയാളെ അകത്തേയ്ക്ക് കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടുവരാൻ ഐവാൻ കാവൽക്കാരോട് ഉത്തരവിട്ടു.

കീറിപ്പറിഞ്ഞ വൃത്തിയില്ലാത്ത വസ്‌ത്രം ധരിച്ച വൃദ്ധൻ ഐവാന്റെ മുന്നിൽ പ്രത്യക്ഷപ്പെട്ടു.

അയാൾ വളരെയധികം ക്ഷീണിച്ചിരുന്നു.
‘Dear old man, what can I do for you?’ Ivan asked.
'പ്രിയപ്പെട്ട വൃദ്ധാ, ഞാൻ എന്താണ് നിങ്ങൾക്ക് ചെയ്യേണ്ടത്?' ഐവാൻ ചോദിച്ചു. ‘Oh Your Majesty! I lost my wife and all my wealth.
'ഓ! മഹാരാജാവേ, എനിക്ക് എന്റെ ഭാര്യയും എല്ലാ സ്വത്തുക്കളും നഷ്ടപ്പെട്ടു.

ഇവിടെ താമസിച്ചു അങ്ങനെ സേവിക്കുവാൻ എന്നെ അനുവദിക്കണമേ. വൃദ്ധൻ പറഞ്ഞു.

ഐവാൻ അദ്ദേഹത്തെ തന്റെ ഭൃത്യനായി നിയമിച്ചു.
